How Are You Doing?

Just checking in to see how you are doing during these trying and extraordinary times.

I hope you are being extra-kind and extra-understanding to yourself and toward those in your life.

It’s important to acknowledge that these are extraordinary! I hope that you’ll find my below survival strategy an inspiration to help care for yourself, your family, and friends. So, what are you doing to care for yourself and others?

Moving - whether it’s a walk around the neighborhood, YouTube “Walk at Home” videos or yoga zoom classes. Moving is the number one thing that helps my mood and my body.

Watching - I have to be honest, I’ve been finding it hard to focus, even with all the streaming series and videos. But, I’ve been searching out comedies and watching quirky series that make me laugh.

Limiting news - I check the news in the morning and evening.. And, I always have friends who will text or email articles that are interesting. When the stay-at-home orders first were issued, I was glued to the t.v. Luckily, for my mental well-being, I’ve managed to limited my news.

Cooking - well, my clothes might not fit after this time!

Wine - always good to enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day.

Walking - taking walks in the neighborhood.

Dancing - I love, love, love to dance. Often before starting in the studio I crank up the volume and dance around for a while.

Virtual Meetups - catching up with friends and family and various groups that I belong to.

Painting in the studio and walls and baseboards in my house

Driving - heading down the road to explore back roads on the Shore.

Helping - sending flowers, and books and daily check-in with neighbors

Nurturing - Reminding myself that these are unusual times. That we will get through this together.

Resting - because often it feels exhausting

Gratitude - I am grateful for every day.

Reading - discovering new worlds!
